Abstarct: The presence of single-phase and three-phase loads causes imbalance in the current and voltage of the lines. One of the ways to solve the imbalance problem is to use static synchronous compensators (STATCOM) in distribution networks, which stabilize the voltage by injecting reactive power into the lines and thus reduce the voltage imbalance. The distribution networks of modern power systems are increasingly under pressure due to the increase in demand and limitations in the construction of new lines. The use of devices baxsed on power electronics in electric power transmission systems is one of the most common equipment for voltage and current control and plays an important role as a helper of stability in an interconnected power system. In this thesis, static synchronous compensator is used in the power system for power control by injecting suitable reactive power into the system. Control and modulation for CHB-STATCOM using proportional-integral (PI) controllers and predictive control. The model is explained in balanced and unbalanced conditions of the load and the voltage of the connection point between the network and the load will be monitored and controlled in such a way that by connecting the load to the network, we will have a voltage drop in the network, which is controlled by PI control methods. and MPC in the CHB converter, we will try to compensate for the voltage drop, and each of them will be checked separately. The results of the simulations confirm the high capability of the predictive controller of the model compared to the proportional-integral controller.
